We are starting a new year and that’s why in today's post, we are going to highlight the festivals and other events of Girona in 2023. The city hosts numerous events of all kinds, and we present the most outstanding ones.

After 10 editions that have gathered more than 280,000 spectators, this year, one of the five most important circus festivals in Europe, returns to Girona. With more than 76 artists from 17 different countries, including the best trapeze artists, jugglers and clowns in the world, the circus festival promises fun for all audiences.

One of the most emblematic festivals in the city will celebrate its 21st anniversary. Blues, Gospel, Jazz, R&B and Rap, among others, are mixed in a very eclectic program that mixes past, present, and future; historical artists and emerging bands; international bands and home artists. A festival that no music lover can miss.

Girona lives not only on music: the MOT is a literature festival of national reference that is organized together with the city of Olot. The project, which was born to bring literature closer to the people, has been consolidated as one of the most active on the scene. Apart from the presentations of well-known writers, one of the strengths of the festival is its proximity to the public. Roundtables or book clubs are a perfect way for readers of all stripes to get directly involved.

Strenes Festival comes with spring, one of the highlights of the year. The inaugural concert, held on a rooftop of La Rambla, is especially expected, and the artist is always a surprise. Music fills Girona, from concert halls to the emblematic stage of the Cathedral stairs. Some of the confirmed artists this year are Luz Casal, Sílvia Pérez Cruz or the Tanxungueiras.

We could not talk about festivals in Girona without mentioning Temps de Flors, the most famous festival in the city and which, year after year attracts thousands of visitors. Since a small flower event was held in a lounge of the Girona town hall in 1954, the festival has grown to turn the city into a beautiful botanical promenade. Walking through the decorated streets you will rediscover the city from another perspective. An unbeatable opportunity to visit the city and let yourself be carried away by the floral creations.

We finish the list of festivals for 2023 with Temporada Alta, the internationally renowned performing arts festival. Still with its past successful edition very fresh, the first artists for the next edition are beginning to be announced: Antonia Font, the popular Majorcan musical group, will close its tour in Girona on September 30th. Despite knowing very little about next edition, one thing is clear to us: the quality of the artists will be guaranteed.
The variety of festivals in the city are a source of vitality and a unique opportunity to complement your visit. Choose the one you like the most, decide the dates and discover Girona from another perspective.
