Discovering the most enchanting beaches and coves of the Costa Brava

From tranquil coves to lively beaches, discover stunning seaside spots in Palamós, Begur, Tamariu, and Sant Feliu de Guíxols—perfect for swimming, snorkeling, or simply soaking up Mediterranean charm.

The Costa Brava, renowned for its natural beauty, crystal-clear waters, and seafaring history, is home to some of the most stunning beaches and coves in Spain. Today, we’ll explore four unique towns—Palamós, Begur, Tamariu, and Sant Feliu de Guíxols—to uncover their most idyllic seaside spots, perfect for sunbathing or enjoying your favorite water sports such as snorkeling, scuba diving, or kayaking.

Experience nature and maritime tradition on the beaches of Palamós

Platja del Castell

Located within the Castell-Cap Roig natural area, this unspoiled beach in Palamós is one of the last extensive, undeveloped beaches on the Costa Brava. Its fine golden sand, surrounded by pine trees and close to the Iberian settlement of Castell, makes it a perfect choice for families and nature lovers. You can reach it on foot via the Camí de Rondacoastal path or by car, with a paid parking area nearby.

Cala s’Alguer

Declared a Site of Cultural Interest, this small 40-meter-long cove in Palamós transports visitors to another era with its traditional white fishermen’s cottages with colorful doors. Its crystal-clear waters and rocky seabed make it an excellent spot for snorkeling. To get there, you must walk from the Platja del Castell parking area.

Cala Estreta

Ideal for those seeking tranquility, this narrow and secluded cove offers a peaceful atmosphere, including a designated nudist area. Its turquoise waters and coarse sand make the 30-minute walk from the Castell parking lot well worth it. In summer, car access to this Palamós cove is restricted, so be prepared for the hike.

Discover mediterranean beauty on the beaches and coves of S'Agaró

Platja de Sant Pol

With its characteristic golden sand and shallow waters, Platja de Sant Pol is perfect for families and water sports enthusiasts. Along its seafront promenade, you’ll find historic colorful bathing cabins that add to the area's charm. It is easily accessible by foot or car, with nearby parking and a variety of services, including beach bars, kayak rentals, and paddleboarding.

Cala Sa Conca

Located at the end of the Camí de Ronda that runs along the S'Agaró residential area, this cove with fine sand and crystal-clear waters is a hidden gem nestled among rocks and Mediterranean vegetation. With its well-preserved natural surroundings, it’s ideal for snorkeling and unwinding. Access is on foot via a panoramic coastal path offering spectacular sea views. If you stay in one of our holiday apartments or houses in S'Agaró, you’ll have it just a short walk away.

Cala Pedrosa

A quiet and rarely visited spot, Cala Pedrosa is a small rocky cove perfect for those looking for privacy and a deep connection with nature. Its transparent waters and vibrant marine life make it a prime location for snorkeling. You can reach it via a walking trail from Sant Pol or along the Camí de Ronda, which keeps it secluded from the crowds and lends it an air of exclusivity.

Be amazed by cliffs and wild beaches in Begur

Platja Fonda

Surrounded by unspoiled landscapes, this coarse, dark-sand beach is set against an impressive cliff that provides natural shade. To reach this Begur beach, you must descend a long staircase, but the effort is rewarded with a wild and authentic setting. Since there are no facilities, it's advisable to bring food and water.

Cala Illa Roja

Famous for its striking reddish rock formation, this nudist cove is one of the most iconic spots on the Costa Brava. Access is exclusively on foot via the Camí de Ronda, which contributes to its peaceful and secluded atmosphere. This Begur cove is ideal for snorkeling and photography enthusiasts.

Cala Sa Tuna

Nestled in a charming fishing village, this coarse-sand cove offers a picturesque setting with colorful houses and traditional boats. Protected by cliffs, its waters are calm and crystal-clear. It has nearby restaurants, parking, and direct access to the Camí de Ronda, allowing visitors to explore more of the area's hidden gems.

A paradise for active holidays in Tamariu

Platja Gran

Located in the heart of the former fishing village of Tamariu, this beach stands out for its family-friendly atmosphere and the opportunity to engage in water sports. Its promenade is lined with restaurants and bars, and it offers all essential services, including lifeguards, showers, and boat rentals.

Cala Aigua Xelida

A spectacular natural retreat north of Tamariu, surrounded by rocks and pine trees. It can be reached by a five-minute walk or through a longer route from Platja Gran. This Tamariu cove is perfect for snorkeling, thanks to its rich marine biodiversity.

Cala de Aigua Dolça

Small yet charming, this pebble cove is located very close to Platja Gran and is accessible via the Camí de Ronda. Its natural freshwater spring and small pier give it a unique character, making it an interesting stop along Tamariu’s Vies Braves, a network of open-water swimming routes.

Experience tradition and natural beauty in Sant Feliu de Guíxols

Platja de Sant Pol

Stretching nearly 900 meters, this Sant Feliu de Guíxols fine-sand beach is ideal for families thanks to its shallow waters. The seafront promenade, adorned with Modernist buildings such as the Casa de les Punxes, adds an elegant touch to its natural beauty. It offers all necessary amenities and is easily accessible by car or bus.

Cala Maset

This small cove with fine sand and deep waters is perfect for those seeking a quieter spot. Access is via a staircase next to the road from Sant Feliu to Sant Pol. Surrounded by lush vegetation, this Sant Feliu de Guíxols cove is ideal for unwinding and enjoying the landscape.

Cala Jonca

Located behind the Sant Feliu harbor, this cove is accessed via an iron staircase that descends to the beach. Its rocky seabed makes it difficult to approach by boat, but it is an excellent spot for snorkeling and diving. Additionally, there is a nearby picnic area, perfect for a day spent in nature.
