9 places to have a coffee in Girona, ideal for cyclists

It is not news that Girona is one of the most visited destinations by cyclists. Its location halfway between the sea and the mountains generates a practically infinite variety of both mountain and road cycling routes. The hardness of the Pyrenees, the beauty of the landscapes of the Empordà or the routes bordering the Costa Brava are just some of the best-known routes. This, together with the good weather, make the city one of the preferred nerve centers for cyclists of different levels, from professionals to bicycle enthusiasts.
All this has meant that, little by little, Girona is infused with cycling everywhere, but it has kept its authentic atmosphere. Below, we will show you some of the places you should visit if you come to pedal around the city.

La Fabrica

Located in the center of Barri Vell, this cafeteria created by former professional cyclist Cristian Meier and his wife Amber has become one of the cycling epicenters of Girona. Once Cristian's cycling career was over, the couple decided to take this project in the city where they had lived in recent years. Home roasted coffee, juices, toast and bagels make up the offer of this place located in the center of Barri Vell.

Espresso Mafia

In front of our Bravissimo Office, on Carrer Cort Reial, you will find this coffee bar exclusively focused on coffee. This business also belongs to Cristian Meier and his wife and arose from the need to provide high quality coffee to the city. In Espresso Mafia, the coffee is roasted for both shops and you can also buy coffee beans. As you walk down this street you will feel the smell of fresh coffee recently roasted.

Hors Category Girona

A bike friendly restaurant where you can find good coffee, healthy food and pints of beer. If you're in the city you can't miss the taco Friday, with live music and great tacos, or the funky Saturday, with a special cocktail menu and live DJ. In addition, they always tune in to the most famous races on the cycling calendar.

Federal Cafe

After its success in cities like Madrid and Barcelona, Federal Café arrives to Girona at the hands of former professional cyclist Rory Sutherland and his partner Charles Harris-Inman, both in love with the city. Located on Carrer de la Força, this place with a minimalist atmosphere fuses Catalan and Australian food: one of the star dishes is the kangaroo burger garnished with natural products from Girona (tomato, lettuce, cheese, etc.). They are also famous for their brunches, ideal for recharging batteries after a bike ride.

Oniria Coffee

In front of The Service Course bike shop, we find this cozy cafeteria. Run by Jannik and Nora, you will find one of the best coffees in the city without a doubt. They also sell bulk coffee and other products such as mugs or tote bags.

Hidden Coffee Rosters

This chain of cafeterias from Barcelona expanded to Girona a little less than a year ago. Sustainable and quality coffee, in beans or also delivery. Located in the middle of the Rambla, you can taste your coffee with views of the Onyar river.

Bar Cacao

Next to Casa Cacao and run by Jordi, the youngest of the Roca brothers, famous for their 3 Michelin star restaurant El Celler de Can Roca, we find this bar with delicious coffee. A good place to take a break and taste chocolate creations with a good coffee.

Nonita Coffee Bar

Born practically 15 days before the pandemic, this cafeteria run by Diana Meneses is located on Carrer de la Sèquia. Apart from good coffee, they are known for their healthy food brunches.

Eat Sleep Cycle

Restaurant, bike rental and group routes, all in one. They offer a varied gastronomic menu with local and seasonal products. Open every day, its terrace is a meeting place for cyclists and coffee lovers.
