The festival Temporada Alta 2023 takes place in Girona between September 30 and December 10. It is one of the most important cultural events in Spain. Its main feature is the combination of local and international proposals, to promote cultural exchange.

•The Goldberg Variations.
•BWV 988 of the Rosas company with the Mercat de les Flors.

Key dates Temporada Alta 2023

For 11 weeks, this festival is distributed among 9 Catalan towns that bring together a unique lineup. In the 22 established stages you will witness all kinds of performances. From a play to a concert, through dance, cinema, circus and other formats.

We are talking about a total of 160 representations, of which:
•36 premieres: 22.5% of the total.
•20 international shows: 12.5%.
•25 productions or co-productions: 15.62%.

The show is served, so there are some key dates you should know about. The sooner you book your tickets, the sooner you will ensure attendance at these events:
•August 31, Thursday. Inaugural event with presentation of the programming. Municipal Theater of Girona.
•September 2, Saturday. Dissemination of the program through inserts in some of the main newspapers in the area: El Punt Avui, Diari de Girona and La Vanguardia.
•September 4, Monday. Presentation to the La Ciutat Invisible Foundation Club.
•September 5 and 6, Tuesday and Wednesday. Start of preferential ticket sales.
•September 8, Friday. Intensive and general ticket sales begin.

International programming

Twenty shows from 10 different countries make up the international selection included in the Temporada Alta 2023. The city of Girona and its surroundings are inundated by international culture. Prominent figures coexist with lesser-known or unpublished names in Spain. All in all, they constitute a cast of top-level artists fromt theater to other disciplines.

Among the examples of the level and attractiveness of these shows of foreign origin, the following deserve your attention:

Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead. This creation is presented in our country under the direction of one of the greats of Europe: Simon McBurney. It is an environmental intrigue based on the novel by Polish Nobel Prize winner Olga Tokarczuk.

Familie. The Swiss Milo Rau, for many the best European director, returns to this festival with an extraordinary work.

Vudú (3318) Blixen. Angélica Liddell gives us the absolute premiere of this poetic work about beauty, honor and existence.

The Scelta. Roger Bernat delves into the singularities and decisions that affect artistic direction.

The daughter of the writers Paul Auster and Siri Hustvedt presents her latest album at the Auditori de Girona. It is an exceptional, very personal fusion of pop, soul and jazz. New York and eclectic, it will be an unforgettable musical performance, scheduled for Sunday, October 22.

Qui a tué mon père

The play directed by Thomas Ostermeier, entitled in English Who killed my dad, is performed on October 28 and 29. You can see it at El Canal-Centre d'Arts Escèniques. It is a great monologue about the moral and physical destruction of Édouard Louis's father, the author.

Rosario Flores Concert

Lola Flores' little daughter presents her work Te lo digo todo y no te digo na. The date is already marked on the calendar: November 11, and the chosen place is the Auditori de Girona. An ideal show for lovers of electrifying music with good vibes.

Love me

Marina Otero and Martín Flores Cárdenas are the creators of this work about the duality of sex and love connected to time and violence. It awaits you on November 19 at Sala La Planeta.

Yerma

This work by Federico García Lorca will be performed on December 6 at the Teatre Municipal de Girona. Directed by Juan Carlos Martel Bayod, starring María Hervás and with the seal of the Teatre Lliure, it is a magnificent performance.
